Fishing Huh

Hello All. So I went fishing last Friday at Cuba Landing. I was not planing on getting there so early but I'm glad I did. I woke up at around 4:30 and could not go back to sleep so I was on the road by 5. I put in at around 5:20 the whole time wondering if getting up so early was worth it. I trolled out to the main channel and hit the gas. I knew it was all worth it when I watched the bow of my boat cutting through the thin layer of fog that was lifting off of the water. I positioned myself in my favorite little fishing spot about six miles up the river. The Bassmaster Classic was launching from Paris Landing which is about 30 miles North from where I was. I had been watching the leader board online and was hoping to see one of these Pros pass by. I had read that the leader was using a mix of deep diving crank baits and plastic worms. When I pulled up to my spot I knew exactly what I was going to throw out, a deep diving Strike King. Well three cast into my spot there it was, a huge tug at the line and the familiar sound of my drag being pulled from my reel. It was a big one or at least felt that way. I had caught a earlier white bass in the same location and they pull much harder than a largemouth so I was hoping that it was not a white bass. I knew it was a largemouth when I started to crank on him and he tried to surface and jump, something a white bass rarely if never does. There I was with what I knew to be a good size largemouth on the line with only my third cast of the say. I fought this fish and even had to go around the boat a time or to. He was a fighter. I have caught a 8 pounder before but this fella was fighting much harder that him. Well I got him in the boat, a solid 4.8 pound bass. Not to bug but boy he sure did not want to get on the boat. After a photo opt he was released back to the water to fight another day. I knew after that the rest of the day was pretty much shot. You see if you hook a good fish like that your third cast the rest of the fish just can't measure up to your initial thrill of the big one. A couple hours later I loaded up and headed back to the house and got home before 11, which was also nice.
